Class Guidelines

Registration Form

All students are required to fill in a registration form before attending their first class with us.

Communication

Once you have filled in a registration form you will automatically be added to our website mailing list so that you receive all of the updates that we send out regarding classes and special events. You can unsubscribe from this at any time. Please make sure that your inbox does not block emails from www.createmovedance.net

Term Dates

Our classes follow Wiltshire school’s timetable and we invoice in half term/6 week blocks. Dates for a block of classes will be sent out at the beginning of each term.

Payment

Class fees should be paid before the beginning of the term or event. Our preferred method of payment is via a service called Book That In and you will be sent a link to this at the beginning of each term. We can offer an alternative if this does not work for you.

Clothing

We do not require students to wear any specific uniform but DO request that they wear appropriate clothing. Students should wear either a leotard and leggings or a t-shirt and leggings. Ballet skirts are allowed as long as they are fit for purpose. Please DO NOT send your child to class in a tutu or other costume. These tend to have layers, are too long and may catch or hurt someone else when dancing.

All jewellery should be removed before class.

We do not use shoes in our younger classes. The floor is slippery and we prefer children to have bare feet to encourage the correct use and development of the feet before wearing more restrictive shoes. If you need to purchase dance shoes for a specific class you will be informed by the class teacher.

Open Classes

At the end of each term, parents are invited into the class for the last part of the session. This is usually about 10 or 15 minutes before the end. The work shared during this time will be a compilation of what the children have been doing throughout the term.

Special Event

Once a year (usually at Christmas) we host a special event for all the family. A traditional ballet is chosen as the focus for each year and all of our classes come together to perform to each other and to friends and family. As part of the event we do the children’s hair and make up and have a space set up so that the children (and any adults) can watch the chosen ballet.

Parental Responsibility

We would like to emphasis that parents are responsible for their children before and after the structured class time. If your child needs assistance going to the toilet please ensure that you are available to take them during the class if needed. We also ask that parents clear up any mess, in the changing room or the toilets, before they leave as we are expected to leave the premises in the same condition that we found it.

Parental Support

We recognise that children sometimes need the support of a parent or other family member during a class particularly in the first few weeks. Parents are welcome to come into the class with their children at any time if needed. Chairs are available and parents are also welcome to participate in the class with their child.

Note: Tea and coffee is available for parents who are waiting for their children although we do ask for contributions to cover the cost of this (there is usually a jar next to the tea/coffee). There is also a great play area behind the hall for younger/older siblings if the weather permits.

Illness

If a child is ill and not able to dance please do not send them to class. Due to Health and Safety and the health of other students, students who are ill are not be allowed to watch the class anymore. If a child becomes too ill to dance during a lesson we will bring the child out of the class to the responsible parent/guardian.

If your child is injured (for example broken arm, sprained ankle) they may be able to watch the class, however this needs to be discussed with the teacher prior to the class.

Cancellation

In the event of disruptions createmovedance will make a decision as early as possible as to cancel class or not. Notices will be sent out via text and email. Notices will also be put on our website and facebook. The above procedure will also apply if lessons are cancelled for any other reason.

Health and Safety

In order to avoid unnecessary accident or injury we ask that all parents carefully read and adhere to the information contained in this sheet relating to health and safety issues and sign the declaration at the bottom of their registration form to indicate that they have done so.

Public Liability

All dancers involved in leading the classes are DBS checked and have up to date public liability insurance.

Photographs

On occasions we invite a professional photographer to come in and photograph the classes or we take them ourselves. Any professional photos taken will be available for you to buy. From time to time we also use these photographs for publicity purposes. Please indicate on the registration form if you give permission for photographs of your child to be used.
