After School Dance Club

Come and join our lively afterschool dance club. We will be exploring and learning new movements from a mix of dance styles as well as creating our own movements with a view to choreographing dances to be shared at the end of each term.

What to expect?

Each class will include simple movement games and sequences to help us learn how move our bodies in new ways as well as time for learning and creating our own choreography in response to a theme that we can share with family and friends at the end of the term.

How do I sign up?

Classes take place every Wednesday from 3:25 – 4:30pm during term time in St Joseph’s Primary School hall. Fees are paid per term. To sign up for classes please click on the link to go to our payment portal and view the start and finish dates.

What to bring?

Bring a water bottle and a snack to keep your energy going?

What to wear?

Please avoid leaving your child to dance in their school uniform by sending them to school with a change of clothes.

We recommend comfortable clothes such as t-shirts, leggings & tracksuit bottoms as the best options. No special footwear required as dancing feet are best left bare!

Who will be teaching?

All classes will be taught by local dancer Synaet Nin Owen. Click on this link to find out more about her dance training and experience.

Why We Think Dancing is Important for Children!

We believe that dance can play an important role in helping children to develop physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.

In our dance club, we aim to facilitate activities that:

  • provide a safe space chance where children can have fun without the pressure of having to get something right.
  • encourage individual and group creativity, and imagination.
  • provide an outlet for children to express ideas, thoughts and emotions.
  • help children develop confidence and self esteem.
  • help children to develop their physical and spatial awareness.
  • practice short term memory skills as they learn and create movement sequences.
  • encourage problem solving individually and with others.
  • help children learn how to work effectively with others as there will be times when they will work creatively on a task in pairs or in a group.
